Faith Leaders Organize Palm Sunday Vigil for Peace and Justice in Hillsboro
Greetings from Hillsboro!
A group of local pastors and I are organizing a procession and vigil for Palm Sunday, March 29th, at 12 noon on the steps of the Washington County Courthouse, 145 NE 2nd Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124. And we'd love for you to join us!
Our plan is to join together in joyful procession and prayerful vigil for peace, justice, compassion, and mercy in our communities, our country, and our world.
While Palm Sunday is traditionally a Christian celebration, people of all ages, stages, traditions, and backgrounds are welcome!
Attendees are welcome to bring palm branches and protest signs (e.g., Blessed are the Peacemakers, Love > Hate, Christians Against Christian Nationalism). Clergy are invited to dress in clerical robes, stoles, and/or collars.
For those who want to walk down Main Street to the event, reply to this email for the best location and time. After the gathering at the courthouse, we plan to do a short 1-block procession around the courthouse.
We recognize this is around lunchtime. After the gathering, we invite and encourage attendees to plan to support our many local immigrant-owned restaurants and food carts.
We don't need to collect names or contacts, but it would be helpful to know how many people plan to attend. Register here: https://forms.gle/Hkfd3nHWjHPHWEwg6.
This event was inspired by the Palm Sunday Pathway movement, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is organized by the newly formed Westside Communities for the Common Good (WCCG). If you have questions, email us at: wccg97123@gmail.com
