Mission and Vision
Mission
The mission of the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIrJ) is to accompany and support immigrants and refugees in Oregon while organizing faith communities to advance justice, dignity, and human rights.
IMIrJ brings together people from diverse faith traditions and communities of conscience to stand in solidarity with immigrants. Through accompaniment, mutual aid, sacred organizing, and advocacy, the organization works to ensure that immigrants are treated with compassion, fairness, and respect, and that communities are empowered to challenge unjust systems and policies.
At its core, IMIrJ’s mission centers on welcoming the stranger, protecting vulnerable communities, and building a more just and inclusive society.
Vision
The vision of the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIrJ) is a just and compassionate society in which immigrants and refugees are welcomed, valued, and able to live with dignity, safety, and a sense of belonging.
IMIrJ envisions communities rooted in solidarity and shared moral responsibility, where people of all faiths and backgrounds work together to transform unjust systems, uphold human rights, and ensure that immigration policies and practices reflect fairness, humanity, and care for all.
